1st Day of school teacher present

I wanted to make my daughter's new teacher a 1st day of school present. I found some super cute fabric at Joann's and made her this lovely purse! She LOVED it!

Check out my other post where I made my daughter a dress and flower bow with the left over fabric!

Fall Wreath

Wanted to show everyone my new Fall wreath I finally got hung up. I know it's not technically Fall YET but it's back to school and well my 4th of July wreath had to be retired. I love Fall and can't wait to get started pulling out all my decor! Hope to see lot's of other crafters showing their new season wreaths!

I used a styrofoam wreath, wrapped it in yarn (I hate doing that part) then I added a little piece of burlap for fun and made three large size flowers. Two from felt and the middle one from a very cute fabric I got at Joann's that had the same fall colors as I used through out and cute little mushrooms all over it.

Up cycled Tank Top dress

So here is my up cycled tank top dress for my daughter! I had a white tank top that was too short. I don't even know if she ever wore it. So I tried it on her and it still fit over her head (LOL) and I had some super cute fabric left over that I used for her teacher's gift (posting next) so I made my lil Miss a 1st day of school dress and a flower bow to match!
Here she is modeling the dress yesterday, literally I did this while my step son and husband were napping. Super easy ;-). Her bow I made while cooking dinner HA!

And here she is ready for school! WHOOP WHOOP to cool! LOL

OK mom let's get this show on the road. If you would like a custom dress made for your Lil Miss just message me or go to my Etsy shop.

See that pretty wreath back there? I'll post that too, my new fall wreath!

Up Cycled Pencil Box!

So my daughter is one of those who takes good care of all of her belongings. So when she took her pencil box home at the end of last year in perfect shape I of course kept it. When is was time to buy school supplies for this school year I didn't want to buy another pencil box for no reason. PLUS there are no "cool" plastic pencil boxes in the stores, they all look the same. Being the us we are we wanted something UNIQUE. So instead I said to her let's DUCK TAPE IT! Yes we decorated it and gave her last years school box a new face with duck tape! We went to the store and I let her pick what duck tape she wanted. These days sprinted duck tape is everywhere! Walmart, Target, Dollar Store, hardware stores, probably even gas stations LOL.
She picked pink with zebra print and I went to town on her pencil box. Pretty cool if I say so myself! AND no one else in her whole school will have a pencil box like hers!

This is her with her cool pencil box on the 1st day of school :-)

Re vamped Bird Bath

Well my husband had this bird bath in his bushes way before I came along. Since his bachelor years ;-) LOL. I decided to bring it out to the light and give it a new coat of paint. Now it had a few holes on top from the rust. I went to the store and asked if this spray paint that was for rust would seal the holes....he told me yes....but I'm gonna say no LOL. It didn't seal the holes. After it's dry I might try another way of sealing the holes so the birdies can utilize their bird bath.

DIY Build A Bear Sleeping Bag

So my step son came home this weekend with a ton of Build a Bear stuff. Of course my daughter was like HEY I want that stuff too! I was NOT going to pay $35 for a sleeping bag and tent I know I can make myself. So here is the DIY sleeping bag I made for my daughter's Build A Bear! I'll be making a tent too as soon as I make a trip to Home Depot for some pipes LOL.
I spent a whole $2 on this, and that's only because I had to pick up some more elastic half way through ;-).

Here is Twinkle ready for a sleep over!

Re-usable Baby Doll Diaper

Here is my baby doll diaper! I found several different patterns on line and just went from there. I decided to trace the pattern then flip it and trace the other side together, do this 2 times for the lining and the outer lining. All of the patterns I found were just half of the diaper.
Sewwwwwwww any who I cut out the fabric of my choice and sewed along the edge leaving an opening to turn right side out. Then did a top stitch! I also added Velcro for easy diaper changing ;-).

Happy baby!

Tank top Dress

I finally did it! You gals know I HEART my tshirt dress' I get at the boutiques which cost at least $40-$45 a dress! I knew I could make them myself. I just couldn't find an actual tutorial to show me how. So I pieced some together to get the idea and made up the rest as I went. So here is my version of a Tshirt dress. I did not take pics of everything because I got quit aggravated with the gathered stitch. When I finally got it I was like YESSSSSSSSSSSS LOL! I then made a matching belt :-). You could totally go with no belt or a belt you already have in your closet.

Supplies:
Fitted tank or tshirt
Sewing machine
Scissors
measuring tape
pins
disappearing pen
coordinating thread
fabric
Iron

You need enough fabric to go around you almost 2 times. And for the length cut to where you want the dress to hit and add a seem line to both top and bottom. I did 1 1/2 times. Now make a mark where you want to cut your tank, this is where your dress will start.

Take off your top and cut straight across.

I then ironed a seem down for the bottom of my dress and sewed it. Now match the two ends or your dress together and sew. Then iron down flat your seem. Your fabric will now look like a tube.

Next is the hard part. Sew a long gathering stitch across the top of your fabric. I didn't catch pics of this LOL, it does take practice and patience. I sewed two seems, one at a 1/2 inch and the other at a 1/4 mark. Once you are done with these two stitches take it off of the machine and GENTLY GENTLY GENTLY pull ONE of the pieces gathering your fabric together SLOWLY. You want to make your dress gather until it is the size of your tank top.
Now take your cut tank and place it inside your tube of fabric. The right side of your fabric and your tank should be together. Pin and now sew all the way across and WA-LA! I also made a simple belt to tie around with my extra fabric!

Here is my tank top dress. I'll put it up on my Etsy site to order a custom tank top or t shirt dress just message me!

Jess
